Choose bananas according to their maturity. Depending on when you want to use and how you want to keep, you might want to be more or less mature. If you are shopping just for you, then you can green bananas so they are not all mature at once. If you are shopping for a family or a few people who will eat quickly, then ripe bananas are the way to go. Some things to keep in mind when choosing your bananas:

*
Green bananas are not ripe yet. Buy green bananas for maximum storage life without freezing. Choose firm fruit without dark spots or abrasions on the skin.

*
Ripe bananas turned their adult color. Most bananas are yellow when ripe, but some varieties are brown or red. The color of adults over the banana appears on the skin, the more mature he is.

   *
Spotted with brown bananas are softer. As small brown spots develop on the skin, the fruit ripens inside even further. When skin shows more black than brown or yellow, the fruit is overripe.

 *
Avoid bananas that have a dull gray tint color. This is a sign that bananas were refrigerated, which interferes with the proper maturation.
